Writing Exercise Wednesday (WEW): Who's That Stranger?

Hey! I want to engage with y'all more, so I'm giving "Writing Exercise Wednesday" a go! Here's how it works:

  • Every Wednesday I'll send out a writing exercise.
  • You all are invited to send what you write based on the exercise (500 words max) and I'll share an excerpt from everyone's work the following Tuesday.
  • Email your work to me with the subject line WEW - [YOUR NAME].

Ready for your first writing exercise? Let's go.

The Last Stranger That Made An Impression On You

I was reading an essay by my friend Edgar and they mentioned how often it was the gay adults they saw in passing, that made the largest difference for them as they were growing up queer.

Then I saw this video.

So, who was the last stranger that made an impression on you? It could be someone you saw yourself in and it changed or life or maybe it was a woman strutting around braless and it made you feel like you too could be fancy free or you briefly chatted with the person behind you in line at the grocery store and realized it was time to get a passport and see the world. The moment can be as big or as small as you want it to be.

Looking forward to reading your words <3
